Biking, Fishing, Climbing and More! The immediate area around the
Adventure River Center is a recreation paradise. Within an easy 30 minutes (and
generally less time than that) are world class hiking and biking trails, one of
the finest trout rivers in the world, and a rock face with routes for beginning
to expert climbers.
The McKenzie
River Trail has been called by many the best mountain
biking trail in
all of Oregon. Different segments allow for different skill levels, from
beginning to advanced. The scenery along the trail is unsurpassed. Pine trees,
the aqua velva blue upper reaches of the McKenzie, thundering waterfalls, and
volcanic moonscapes are all found on the trail. In addition to this exceptional
trail, lightly used fire and logging roads that are ideal for mountain biking
are found in the areas adjacent to the ARC.
Hiking near the ARC is also world class. Famous
and scenic McKenzie Pass is nearby, and trails between the ARC and the pass
allow for tons of solitude, access to sparkling alpine lakes, strolls along a
crystal clear river, panoramas of the towering Three Sisters mountains,
tortured geologic moonscapes, thick pine forests, and on and on.
As mentioned
above, the McKenzie river is great for rafting and kayaking. Class II and III rapids abound on
different stretches of the river. Quieter stretches of river are also found,
ideal for canoeing! No matter what your river sport, the
Adventure River Center is a perfect base for a day or a week of
boating!
The McKenzie
river has long been considered one of the best fishing rivers in the world.
Rainbow and cutthroat trout, steelhead, and salmon are found in the McKenzie's
pristine waters. Fly fishing on the McKenzie is particularly
enjoyable, as the river is rich with quiet eddies and shaded patches of river.
If you have
always wanted to try your hands (and feet) at rock
climbing, then
consider coming to the Adventure River Center and spending a day or two or
three at nearby Flagstone, a beautiful and easily accessible rock formation
that spires out of and above old growth forest. With numerous routes ideal for
first-time to advanced climbers, Flagstone is an ideal place to learn and
improve on your climbing skills.
Those seeking

popular pasttime for those visiting this area is hot
springing. More
developed sites such as Belknap Springs and less developed sites such as Deer
Creek and Cougar springs each feature warm pure spring water that soothes the
sorest of adventure bodies. All of these sites are within a short drive of the
Adventure River Center.
As if that
weren't enough, ARC provides guided excursions and/or instructional sessions
